CHEMICAL GRADIENT
A concentration gradient explains how particles move from one side to another across a border. A key point is that chemical gradients refer to net movement -- particles are always moving back and forth across any semi-permeable membrane. Equal concentration is reached when this exchange becomes balanced and equal in both directions, even though movement continues. Use this simulation to see how that balance is reached.
MEMBRANE PERMEABILITY
[Placeholder] This simulation illustrates how membrane permeability affects particle movement across the membrane.
NERST EQN
[Placeholder] Learn how the Nernst Equation calculates the equilibrium potential for specific ions based on their concentration gradients.
